We have carefully hand-picked more than 800 professional writers to include in our talent pool, all of whom have varying specialties, backgrounds and experience levels. CopyDesk places these writers in both full-time and freelance positions, with five years of experience required to be a freelancer. We receive more than 1,000 résumés every year, which is why we need to have a rigorous screening system in place. And screen we do. We first evaluate a candidate's résumé, cover letter and writing samples. If the candidate looks to be a good match for some of our clients, we invite him or her to our office for a portfolio review. If we are still impressed by what we see, we then check three professional references. Many writers fall through the cracks during this process, but that's part of the plan.
