Clients: frequently asked questions

How do I contract with a writer through CopyDesk?
There are a couple of different ways. You can fill out the on-line Job Order and send it to us via e-mail or fax. You will receive a call from a friendly CopyDesk recruiter within 24 hours. Or, you can simply call 323.878.COPY (2679) or 877.55.WRITE (toll-free within the U.S.A.), tell us the project specifics and how many writers you need to do the job. Does the work require the writer(s) to be on-site? Is the project ongoing? Do you have a specific budget in mind? The more you tell us, the better and faster we can serve you.

Do I negotiate project fees with the writer or with CopyDesk?
With CopyDesk only. We gather quotes for you; that's part of our charm! We just ask that you keep whatever we've agreed upon confidential.

Once I've selected a writer, can I work directly with him or her, or do I need to work through CopyDesk?
Whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Some CopyDesk clients prefer working directly with the writer, while others prefer that CopyDesk manage the project. Either method is fine with us; just let us know which you'd prefer.

Who will send me the necessary paperwork (invoices, timesheets, etc.)?
CopyDesk will. You will receive an invoice from CopyDesk detailing the specifics of the project (hours, rate, etc.). And, if the work is done on-site, the writer will ask you to sign a timesheet once he or she fills it out. That's it. CopyDesk will pay the writer.

Whom do I contact if there are problems with the job?
We hope that there won't be any problems, but should the unexpected arise, specific copy-related problems can be directed first to the writer. If you have procedural or other problems, call us. We'd like the chance to remedy them—at no additional cost to you. And please remember that the first draft often is not perfect. Your feedback will allow the writer to come back with another draft that will more closely fit your vision.

Where do I send my payment?
Please make your checks payable to
CopyDesk, Inc.,
and send them to us at:
8033 Sunset Boulevard
#406
Los Angeles, Callifornia 90068.

What if I want to work with the same writer on the next job?
Great! But you still need to contact us first, even though you've already established a working relationship with the writer. We will let the writer know of your interest and check on his or her availability. To that end, our goal is the same. We want to keep writers writing and you satisfied!
